Code of Conduct

FOR EVERYONE

CONSENT IS MANDATORY.

- This refers to physical touch, photography, personal property; EVERYTHING.

AS PRODUCERS, we will:

- Meet our deadlines.

- Never share private information, unless we have your expressed permission to do so.

- Treat all cast members and venue staff with respect.

- Not tolerate discrimination, bullying or harassment.

- Acknowledge the land we are performing, visiting or residing.

- Prioritize the need for an inclusive and diverse cast.

- Provide you with a safe and welcoming space in which to perform.

- Respond to all messages (email/Facebook/Instagram) within 24 hours.

- Promote the event and our cast.

- Support you in any way we can to help make your Glitterverse Productions experience successful.

AS CAST MEMBERS, you will:

- Treat all cast members, producers and venue staff with respect.

- Be on time for call time, even if you are not performing until the end of the show, unless alternate arrangements have been made with the Production Team (Baron von Boom, Kara Ka-Pow! and Dare Reaire).

- Notify the Production Team as soon as possible if you are unable to make it to the show after you have been cast.  We understand that extenuating circumstances arise, we just ask that communication remains open.  If you do not show, and we do not receive any communication from you, it is unlikely that you will be booked again.

- Report any incidences of harassment or assault to the Production Team immediately, or as soon as you are ready, so the Production Team can address it as quickly as possible.  The offending party may be removed from the space and could face a ban from future events.

- Clean up your space backstage after you have finished performing and dispose of any trash (i.e. pastie tape backing, discarded items, etc.).  We are guest in the Glitterverse event spaces, so please act accordingly.

- Ensure to respect other performers' backstage spaces and not touch any of their personal items without their permission.

- Ensure not to allow anyone who is not in the cast backstage without prior permission from the Production Team.  If you require assistance from a non cast member prior to your performance or after, please inform the Production Team as soon as possible.

- Ensure that you enter and exit the backstage area as quickly as possible and ensure that door or curtain is fully closed behind you.

- Arrive and be fit for the stage.  If we feel that you are inebriated and unfit to that the stage, you will be removed from the cast and asked to join the audience.  This may also prevent us from booking you in the future.

- Send your tech requirements by the deadline.  One reminder will be sent.  No late submissions will be accepted, unless prior arrangements have been made with the Production Team.  If you are having any issues with submission, please communicate with us and we will do our best to assist.  If we have not heard from you and have not received your submission by the deadline, you will be removed from the roster.

- Please be as specific as possible with your act description, such as song, act length, slow or fast movements, floor work, colours, costume, props, whether a trigger warning is required (this applies to acts that are heavily emotional, related to abuse, violence and any other topics that may trigger the audience).  This helps us spot any issues (i.e. cultural appropriation, problematic music etc.), curate the show, and determine the flow of the set list.

Ultimately, Glitterverse Productions will NOT tolerate anyone being an asshole.

HAVE FUN!!!  This show is meant to be a welcoming and exciting opportunity to experiment in the world of burlesque and performance, and we are excited to have you be a part of it.

Thank you to Show Us Your Noobies for providing a template to work from.

SAFER SPACES POLICY

This policy applies to all Glitterverse Production shows and spaces (herein referred to as Glitterverse), both on-line and off.  Some Glitterverse spaces may have additional rules in place, which will be made clearly available to all participants.  All participants involved in Glitterverse events will be expected to read and sign off on this policy.  Participants are responsible for knowing and abiding by these rules without exception.

Glitterverse is dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive and FUN experience for all.

We will NOT tolerate harassment in any form.

Harassment includes, but is not limited to:

- Offensive, derogatory, threatening, aggressive, or silencing comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, ability, mental illness, neuro(a)typicality, physical appearance, body size, age, language, race, nationality, ethnicity, socioeconomic standing, religion, or otherwise.

- Deliberate misgendering or use of "dead' or rejected names.

- Gratuitous or off-topic sexual images or behaviour in spaces where they are not appropriate.

- Physical contact and simulated physical contact (i.e. textual descriptions like "*hug*" or "*backrub*") without consent or after a request to stop.

- Threats of violence.Incitement of violence towards any individual, including encouraging a person to commit suicide or to engage in self-harm.

- Deliberate intimidation.

- Stalking or following.

- Harassing photography or recording, including logging online activity for harassment purposes.

- Disruption of events, programs, or space functionality.

- Pattern of inappropriate social contact, such as requesting/assuming inappropriate levels of intimacy with others.

- Continued one-on-one communication after requests to cease.

- Deliberate "outing" of any aspect of a person's identity without their consent except as necessary to protect vulnerable people from intentional abuse.

- Publication of non-harassing private communication.

Glitterverse reserves the right not to act on complaints regarding:

- "Reverse"-isms, such as "reverse racism", "reverse sexism" and "cis-phobia".

- Reasonable communication of boundaries, such as "leave me alone", "go away", or "I'm not discussing this with you".

- Communicating in a "tone" you don't find congenial.

- Criticizing racist, sexist, cis-sexist, or otherwise oppressive behaviour or assumptions.

Reporting

If you are being harassed or notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, you can contact us by:

- Speaking on-site to a member of the Production Team (Baron von Boom, Kara Ka-Pow! or Dare Reaire).

- Emailing the Production Team (glitterverseproductions@gmail.com).

- Privately messaging either Baron von Boom, Kara Ka-Pow! or Dare Reaire on Facebook or Instagram, or sending a message to Glitterverse Productions on our Facebook or Instagram pages.

If need be, we will contact the space's security employees, provide an escort, call a taxi, or assist you in any other way.  Any reports will be handled privately and will be acted upon with your safety in mind first.

This policy applies to Glitterverse spaces, but if you are being harassed by a member or participant of Glitterverse Production events outside our spaces, we still want to know about it.  We will take all reports of harassment very seriously.  The Production Team reverse the right to exclude people from future Glitterverse shows based on their past behaviour, including behaviour outside Glitterverse spaces.

We will respect confidentiality requests for the purpose of protecting victims of abuse.  At our discretion, we may privately warn third parties about a person whom we have received harassment complaints about, if we believe that doing so will increase the safety of Glitterverse event members, members of the Burlesque Community, or the general public.  We will NEVER name harassment victims without their explicitly affirmative consent.

Enforcement

If a person engages in harassing behaviour, they will be asked to stop and will be expected to comply immediately.  If the person continues to engage in the harassing behaviour, the Production Team retains the right to take any action to keep the Glitterverse event, programs and/or spaces (on-line and physical) a welcoming and safe space for everyone.

If a patron, member or participant of a Glitterverse event engages in harassing behaviour, the Production Team may take any action they deem appropriate, up to and including expulsion from all Glitterverse spaces, either on a temporary or permanent basis, and identification of the participant as a harasser to other Glitterverse event members, the Burlesque Community, to the general public.

In the case of expulsion from a paid event, no refund will be awarded.

Ultimately, Glitterverse Productions will NOT tolerate anyone being an asshole.
